Year 7 was going on a camp, on a bus to our destination Papamoa. In year7 there are 6 classes & all the year 7 classes pair up with another class for the week 7MC was with 7TM, on Thursday we were going to Elms Mission House. When we arrived we got off the bus & waited outside the Elms Mission House. Then we were put into groups then we went & learnt about the history. The group I was in our guide that took us her auntie used to live in the Elms Mission House in the olden days. & first we went into the old shed & we looked at old stuff they used to use like a microwave & they used to hold a honey business from the shed. They used to sell jars of honey. Then we moved onto the dairy room we saw a little fly net things that you would keep milk & cheese in, because they did not have fridges or freezers back then but it was the coldest room on the property & the one with the least sunlight. After that it was time to go to the laundry room in the laundry room were old irons some old clothes like bloomers & old clothes like bloomers & old top, dress, pants & instead of bras they were like sort of top things , they also made soap themselves because they didn't have many shops, they also had about 3 irons & they heated them up their was only one handle & when the iron got cold you would put the handle on the hot one. & they had ringers where you squeeze the water out of clothes. They would use a ripple board & wash the clothes, Monday was washing day & Tuesday was cleaning day. Then it was time to go to the library, when we went into the library we saw old books, feather pens, old chair, old fireplace & a rope when you pulled it up there was a room it was a trap door the room was for hiding in the war if people came like cannibals people, they never had to use the room though. But it was for safety. Then we went to the house in the house their was interesting stuff like treasures & in their, their was the green single earring & a collection of walking sticks. Then we went to the chapel outside the chapel was a big bell & our guide rang the bell once, then we went inside the chapel it was so comfy & it had red carpet, & a big old Bible & it was on a judge's step up part on a desk, there was also a desk just for doing stuff at though, it was so small, then we had lunch then after lunch we left.
